When the research of 2009 proved that breast cancer survivors who eat a healthy diet and exercise moderately may reduce their risk of breast cancer mortality by as much as 50%, ZoN Pink fitness was born.
The line of fitness product was created to empower female consumers with products and materials to educate and improve the quality of life for all women, including breast cancer survivors. With the purchase of ZoN Pink fitness products a donation is made to Bright Pink, a national nonprofit organization that provides education, support, and a sense of community to young women at high risk for breast and ovarian cancer. Bright Pink is the only national breast and ovarian cancer non-profit organization with an exclusive focus on prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in high-risk young women.
When ZoN Fitness launched the product line and it was well received and successfully sold to the largest distribution channels in the country including Sears, Walmart and Sport’s Authority, I realized that I have became a part of something big and important. I have been the lead designer on the product line, starting with concepts and overseeing and producing packaging for ZoN Pink through the whole project cycle. Outside of the obvious packaging and cosmetics for the product I have created numerous sales materials, presentations, program downloadable content visuals and merchandising. Partially, the fitness line was very successful due to uplifting bright packaging and it’s vibrant color that drew attention in the sea of other “pink” boxes on the racks. Most of them only provide information to the consumer where the partial donation will be sent while ZoN Pink educated women on the benefits of exercise.
Breast cancer is NOT an OCTOBER disease. This is an every day reality for nearly 180,000 women in the U.S. every year. The product line reached many young and older women who are either under the genetic risk or already went through treatment and survived the horrible disease. ZoN Pink was featured on the Dr. Phil P.I.N.K. Method show which launched on December 20, 2011 and in numerous TV News and Broadcasts including NBC Today with Kathie Lee, and in magazines and press such as Chicago Sun Times, SELF Magazine and CS.
